StackingDAO's Bitcoin staking capacity fully allocated as Genesis Bond draws strong demand

StackingDAO's inaugural Bitcoin staking pool has been completely spoken for. The 150 BTC allocation filled rapidly, marking one of the first concrete demand signals for native Bitcoin yield generation through the Stacks Layer 2 ecosystem's new Genesis Bond program. The broader Bitcoin Staking program under PoX-5 targets a total capacity of roughly 3,000 BTC, meaning StackingDAO's pool accounts for about 5% of the overall pie. Other participating pools, including Xverse and Fast Pool, still have room for new participants looking to get in.BTC holders lock their Bitcoin on Layer 1, the actual Bitcoin blockchain, while that BTC gets paired with STX tokens on the Stacks network. No bridging required. No handing over custody to a third party. The program targets an initial annual percentage yield of approximately 3%. For large holders who've been sitting on dormant BTC, even single-digit returns on the world's most valuable digital asset start to add up.StackingDAO is also introducing stBTC, a liquid staking token designed to let users auto-compound their sBTC rewards while keeping a transferable position they can deploy across DeFi applications on Stacks. The current phase is intentionally constrained. Only about 10% of total bonding capacity has been reserved for ecosystem pools operated by experienced STX stackers. This bootstrap period is overseen by the Stacks Endowment. The Genesis Bond is scheduled for launch on September 10, 2026, at which point the program's first year will conclude. After that bootstrap period ends, the system transitions to PoX-6, a permissionless auction mechanism where anyone can compete for staking slots without the current gatekeeping from validated operators.Investors watching this space should pay attention to STX token dynamics as staking activity scales. More BTC flowing into the system means more demand for STX pairing. The shift to permissionless auctions could also introduce new competitive pressures that affect yields across the board.
