Top Cryptocurrencies Rise; Bitcoin Tops $82,000

Major digital assets rose late Wednesday afternoon with Bitcoin (BTC/USD) topping $82,000. The CoinDesk Market Index, which tracks dozens of digital assets including Bitcoin, gained 8.1% in the past 24 hours. The Nasdaq 100 jumped 12% in late trading, the S&P 500 rose 9.2% and Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 7.6%. Bitcoin rose 7.3% to $82,408, according to CoinMarketCap data. The most popular cryptocurrency's 24-hour trading volume surged 58% to $77.2 billion. Ethereum (ETH/USD), the second-largest digital asset by market value, jumped 12% to $1,640. XRP (XRP/USD) surged 13%, BNB (BNB/USD) rose 5.1%, and Solana (SOL/USD) added 15%. Dogecoin (DOGE/USD) advanced 12%, while Cardano (ADA/USD) rose 13%. The US 10-year Treasury yield stood at 4.396% at 3 p.m. ET Wednesday, up from 4.241% Tuesday, while the five-year yield rose to 4.091% from 3.871%. The total market value of the cryptocurrency industry increased 7.9% in the past 24 hours to $2.61 trillion with trading volume rising 55% to $169.19 billion.
