Spot Crypto Products to Begin Trading on Regulated Markets, CFTC Says
By Elias SchisgallListed spot cryptocurrency products will soon be available to trade on federally regulated and registered markets, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission said Thursday.Acting Chairman Caroline Pham said the decision follows recommendations from President Trump's Working Group on Digital Asset Markets and engagement with the Securities and Exchange Commission."Thanks to President Trump's leadership, this Administration has developed a comprehensive all-of-government plan for America to reclaim its place as the world leader in digital asset markets, and the CFTC has a central role to play," Pham said.The decision is the latest move from the Trump Administration to increase access to crypto and other digital assets.Trump helped usher a pair of bills laying out frameworks for stablecoins and crypto exchanges through the House of Representatives over the summer, according to The Wall Street Journal, and the CFTC in August announced a "crypto sprint" to implement recommendations from the digital assets working group.Write to Elias Schisgall at [email protected]
