
SharpLink Gaming Taps Ethereum Expert for CEO
By Dean SealSharpLink Gaming has appointed a former BlackRock senior executive who specialized in digital assets to be its next top leader as its current chief transitions to a new role.The online-gaming company, which has made buying ether and promoting Ethereum adoption a central part of its identity, said Friday that Joseph Chalom has been appointed co-chief executive.Rob Phythian, the company's co-founder and current CEO, will transition to the role of president over the next quarter and remain on the board.Chalom was instrumental in launching BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust, which SharpLink said is the largest Ethereum exchange-traded product with more than $10 billion in current assets."Few executives in the world have had the kind of impact Joseph has had in unlocking institutional adoption of digital assets, having pioneered BlackRock's strategic entry into the space," said SharpLink Chairman Joseph Lubin, who is a co-founder of Ethereum.Write to Dean at [email protected]
