Unlike traditional staking pools, Rocket Pool aims to create a more decentralized and resilient staking infrastructure for Ethereum. Ethereum 2.0 requires 32 ETH to run a validator. Rocket Pool allows users to stake with significantly smaller amounts by pooling resources from various participants. Rocket Pool categorizes its participants into two groups: regular users and “nodes”. While regular users can delegate their ETH without the hassle of managing infrastructure, nodes take on the responsibility of ensuring the validators run smoothly. Users who delegate their ETH to Rocket Pool receive rETH tokens in return, which represent their stake in the pool and can be freely traded on external markets.RPL is a native token of Rocket Pool that is used as a collateral mechanism for nodes and acts to incentivize the proper operation of the network. Nodes are required to hold RPL as collateral to ensure their honest operation and to mitigate potential risks to delegating users.
