
Robinhood to offer tokenized shares of OpenAI, SpaceX to EU users in growth push
Robinhood co-founder and CEO Vlad Tenev unveiled on Monday that his company is planning to offer users the chance to buy tokenized shares in private companies like OpenAI and SpaceX.At a public event in Cannes, France, Tenev held what he claimed were the "stock tokens" to OpenAI and SpaceX. Tenev and his team also promoted the launch of tokenized U.S. equities in Europe, along with perpetual trading and staking in the U.S. The online brokerage is eyeing major growth by offering more than 200 tokenized versions of publicly traded U.S. stocks to EU users.For people EU users who downloaded the Robinhood app, Tenev said they would have a chance to own tokenized shares in OpenAI and SpaceX. Tenev said that after a week, users would be able to claim tokens. He then transferred a $1 million worth of tokenized OpenAI shares to Robinhood Europe to be disbursed at a later date."Turns out the OpenAI stock token transaction did indeed succeed," Tenev posted to X.It wasn't completely clear if Tenev was only addressing those in attendance when he announced offering the shares in OpenAI and SpaceX, or any new Robinhood user in the EU.
