Analyst Willy Woo said he does not oppose Bitcoin ETFs or custodial solutions, noting they offer benefits such as broader recognition and access to traditional finance. According to ChainCatcher, he argued that Bitcoin’s unique feature is its sovereign nature as a mature digital asset that has no nationality and cannot be blocked, diluted, or seized by states, a property he said is only achieved through self-custody.Woo said Western societies have largely lived in a safe bubble since World War II, but cited Ray Dalio’s historical research as suggesting stability is cyclical. He said people eventually need reserves that can protect them when the world briefly breaks down, while custodial institutions can fail and governments have seized assets in the past and may do so again. He said the current period is in the later stage of that cycle and recommended allocating 15% of assets to sovereign assets such as Bitcoin and gold.
