U.S. Appeals Court Issues Final Order in SBF Case, Upholding 25-Year Sentence

The U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals issued a mandate in the SBF case on August 4, formally ending the appeal process and sending the case back to the trial court to carry out the judgment. According to Odaily, the order upheld the original ruling, including a 25-year prison sentence and an approximately $11 billion forfeiture order, without adding new arguments.Bankman-Fried’s only remaining judicial option is to file a petition for certiorari with the U.S. Supreme Court within 90 days of the judgment, asking the court to hear the case again. He has also submitted a pardon request to the U.S. Department of Justice, while Senators Cynthia Lummis and Ruben Gallego have introduced a resolution opposing any pardon.
