Strive acquires 1,110 bitcoin for $81.5 million as total holdings reach 21,356 BTC

Strive (ASST) acquired 1,110 bitcoin for approximately $81.5 million between Aug. 17 and Aug. 21, bringing its total holdings to 21,356 BTC, according to an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.The bitcoin was purchased at an average price of $73,409 per coin, inclusive of fees and expenses. The acquisition increased the company's holdings by about 5.5% from 20,246 BTC as of mid-August, the filing shows.According to Bitcoin Treasuries data, Strive ranks as the seventh-largest public company holding bitcoin. Michael Saylor's Strategy (MSTR) leads the cohort with 840,447 BTC, followed by Twenty One Capital with 43,514 BTC, Metaplanet with 43,000 BTC, MARA with 35,577 BTC, and Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company with 30,021 BTC.The latest purchase comes as bitcoin treasury companies continue to expand their holdings and adjust how they finance their strategies. Strategy, the largest public corporate bitcoin holder, reported Monday that it sold 18.26 million MSTR shares for about $2 billion between Aug. 17 and Aug. 23 but did not buy or sell bitcoin during the period.Strategy used $300 million of the net proceeds to increase its USD Reserve to $5.1 billion and allocated $1.59 billion to a newly established "USD Cash" pool. The company said the pool may be used for future bitcoin purchases, preferred-stock dividends, interest payments, and securities repurchases, among other corporate purposes.Strategy's STRC preferred stock was trading at $96.18 on Monday, below its $100 par value. Strive's SATA preferred shares were trading at $100.63.Bitcoin price Meanwhile, bitcoin rose nearly 25% last week, closing Friday at $77,387 after gaining $14,264, according to The Block's BTC price page. The benchmark cryptocurrency was trading near $80,000 on Monday.Strive CEO Matt Cole said Sunday that he has "very strong" conviction that the bitcoin bear market is over, citing bitcoin's recent breakouts against both the dollar and gold.Cole said bitcoin bottomed against gold in February, about five months before it bottomed against the dollar in July. He said the BTC/gold ratio has been a useful gauge of bitcoin's performance relative to gold and expects growing demand for scarce assets to favor bitcoin.Cole's comments come as Strive continues to build its bitcoin treasury.
