S&P Dow Jones Indices, Pantera Capital to Offer New Index for Digital Assets

By Kelly CloonanS&P Dow Jones Indices is teaming up with investment firm Pantera Capital to offer an index designed to be a benchmark for digital assets.S&P Dow Jones Indices, a division of S&P Global, said Tuesday the new index uses a rules-based approach similar to traditional finance benchmarks, unlike existing crypto indexes that focus on price momentum or popular tokens like meme coins or bitcoin.The new index only includes tokens and companies that generate actual revenue, with the aim of offering a more disciplined and transparent way to measure investments in the blockchain and digital-asset space, the index provider said.The new index, called the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index, signals growing market maturity of digital assets, S&P Dow Jones Indices said.Write to Kelly Cloonan at [email protected]
