The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will again delay a proposed innovation exemption for tokenized assets after receiving concerns from Wall Street and the White House. According to ChainCatcher, the exemption was originally designed to give U.S. crypto firms a 12- to 36-month regulatory sandbox to issue and trade tokenized securities. The main dispute centers on whether the exemption would allow third parties to issue stock tokens without the consent of listed companies. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce defended the framework in a post on X, saying it was narrowly scoped and intended to facilitate trading in digital representations of existing equity securities rather than synthetic products.
