Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, has long urged investors to avoid holding too much cash and instead allocate to Bitcoin, gold, silver, and real estate. According to Sina Finance, the 79-year-old personal finance author has also made aggressive cryptocurrency price predictions, saying Bitcoin could eventually reach seven figures as government debt expands and currency debasement erodes purchasing power. The debt figure was disclosed by Kiyosaki on the June 1 episode of the Rich Dad Education podcast, where he said, "I now have $1.2 billion in debt." He also told listeners not to copy his approach directly and said he has studied debt since 1974, arguing that investors must first understand financial literacy before using leverage.According to Sina Finance, citing The New York Post, the headline figure is not $1.2 billion in unsecured personal debt. Kiyosaki's former wife and longtime business partner, Kim Kiyosaki, explained in an August 26 Vanity Fair profile that the debt came from jointly held real estate investments with partners, including about 1,500 apartment units.Vanity Fair estimated, based on Kiyosaki's financial data, that his personal share of the debt is about $30 million to $60 million. Kiyosaki has said debt can be used to create wealth, and he has extended that view to crypto, grouping Bitcoin with gold and silver as assets that can help preserve wealth during inflation and currency turmoil.
