River Markets Targets Institutional Distribution Role for OG.com and Crypto.com

River Markets is positioning itself as a central distribution gateway for institutional prediction markets, signing a preliminary agreement to route orders for both OG.com’s event contracts and Crypto.com’s crypto spot liquidity through a single trading interface.Under a memorandum of understanding signed on 20 October, River would become a distribution channel for both venues, allowing hedge funds and quantitative desks to work with event contracts and digital assets through one interface.Under the memorandum of understanding signed on 20 October, River would serve as an external distribution channel for both venues, pitching macro funds and systematic desks a unified order-routing layer. The agreement builds on River’s $8.5 million funding round in August. The company raised the money to develop execution and prime-brokerage tools for firms trading across prediction-market venues, where positions and liquidity are often spread between separate platforms. The proposed connection would add OG.com’s contracts to that network and extend River’s offering to crypto spot markets. How the Three Platforms Would Connect Under the plan, River would provide the client-facing platform, order routing and risk tools. OG.com would supply event contracts through its CFTC-regulated exchange and clearinghouse, while Crypto.com Exchange would provide digital-asset spot liquidity. The two venues would serve different parts of the proposed offering.Hedge funds and trading desks will be able to access those markets through River’s existing workflow instead of building separate connections to each venue. The arrangement would broaden the assets available through River, though the companies have not described a shared collateral or settlement system for spot trades and event contracts.“As prediction market participants seek sophisticated strategies, this partnership enables institutional desks to manage broader digital asset exposure seamlessly on a high-performance, secure trading platform,” said Iskandar Vanblarcum, Managing Director of Crypto.com Exchange. Institutional Interest Is Growing, but Participation Remains Limited River is building for a market in which professional interest has begun to translate into trading. In a June survey, Acuiti and Singapore Exchange found that 9% of institutional derivatives participants were actively trading prediction markets, pointing to an emerging market.Kalshi has also reported institutional activity. In a recent Finance Magnates interview, its Head of Institutional, Andy Ross, said firms onboarding to or already trading on the exchange collectively manage more than $1 trillion in assets. He described institutions as a significant share of activity and said they frequently trade against one another.River co-founder and CEO Oscar Levy sees a larger role for the products: “Prediction markets have matured from a niche asset class into essential information infrastructure for global macro and quantitative trading desks,” he said. The connection to OG.com and Crypto.com Exchange has no announced launch date. For now, the MoU sets out a planned route to both markets; it does not mean River’s clients can already trade them through the new integration.
