Rain Acquires Ansa to Expand Branded Stored-Value Payments

Stablecoin card issuance and payments platform Rain has acquired branded stored-value and closed-loop payments platform Ansa. According to ChainCatcher, Ansa's team will join Rain, and Ansa founder and CEO Sophia Goldberg will become Rain's head of payments.Ansa provides merchants with branded prepaid wallets and incentive tools, allowing stored-value balances to be used through Mastercard rails at existing point-of-sale terminals. Rain said it plans to combine its Visa and Mastercard issuance capabilities to extend stored-value balances to more merchant scenarios and integrate them with wallet, rewards, and stablecoin features. Ansa had previously raised about $19.4 million.
