President Trump Scheduled for White House Crypto Summit as CLARITY Act Stalls
President Donald Trump is expected to meet with top crypto, prediction market and finance executives at the White House this week. What Is the White House Crypto Meeting About?Trump is hosting the White House crypto meeting Wednesday alongside CFTC Chairman Michael Selig and SEC Chairman Paul Atkins.Executives from crypto and prediction-market companies, including Coinbase, Robinhood, Ripple, Gemini, Kalshi and Polymarket, are expected to participate.Bloomberg reported that the gathering comes ahead of the CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee’s first meeting the following day. Their agenda is digital-asset and prediction-market regulation.ETF analyst Nate Geraci said on Monday that the meeting is also expected to include executives from traditional financial heavyweights such as Nasdaq, NYSE, CME and DTCC.Geraci sees the gathering as evidence that the administration may not wait for Congress to pass comprehensive crypto market-structure legislation. Will Tokenization Take Center Stage?Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan told CNBC on Monday that the attendee mix suggests tokenization could be the meeting’s biggest theme.Hougan pointed to the convergence of crypto exchanges and traditional market infrastructure as financial markets increasingly move toward 24/7 trading and tokenized assets. He believes regulatory progress could expand the addressable market for DeFi infrastructure far beyond crypto’s roughly $2 trillion market.Hougan highlighted Uniswap (CRYPTO: UNI) Hyperliquid and Chainlink (CRYPTO: LINK) as potential beneficiaries if blockchain applications increasingly serve traditional equity and bond markets.Solana could also benefit from growing tokenized-stock activity, he added.Bitcoin would likely benefit more broadly from an administration continuing to make the U.S. more hospitable toward crypto, according to Hougan. What About The CLARITY Act?Hougan said the crypto industry still wants the CLARITY Act, but its path remains uncertain, with Polymarket odds near 20%.He believes the passage could create "a new market in crypto," while failure would likely see the SEC and CFTC continue advancing crypto regulation independently.Geraci similarly expects the administration to push its crypto agenda forward without waiting for Congress.Image: Shutterstock
