National Bank of Canada Reveals $330K XRP ETF and Bitcoin ETFs
National Bank of Canada has added another name to the growing list of traditional financial institutions gaining exposure to crypto through U.S.-listed ETFs. Its latest holdings disclosure shows positions in the Bitwise XRP ETF and several Bitcoin ETFs.The bank’s latest disclosure comes at a time when XRP ETF inflows have slowed for the last two days.National Bank of Canada Holds Bitwise XRP ETFAccording to the holdings data shown in the filing, National Bank of Canada reported 3,848 shares of the Bitwise XRP ETF, with a reported value of around $330,000.The XRP ETF position stands out because it gives the Canadian bank direct exposure to XRP through a regulated U.S.-listed investment product rather than requiring direct XRP ownership. The filing data is particularly notable because institutional ownership of XRP ETFs is still developing.National Bank of Canada had previously appeared among institutional holders of the Bitwise XRP ETF, showing that its exposure to the product was already visible in regulatory filings. However, the XRP position remains relatively small compared with the bank’s Bitcoin ETF holdings.Bitcoin ETFs Make Up Most of the Crypto ExposureThe bank also disclosed that crypto ETF holdings include several Bitcoin products. The largest position is in the ProShares Bitcoin ETF, with 42,321 shares valued at roughly $5.31 million.National Bank of Canada also reported exposure to the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, which held 55,644 shares worth about $1.09 million. In addition, the bank held 6,831 shares of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust ETF, valued at around $150,000, along with 2,596 shares of the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF, worth about $100,000.Taken together, the disclosed crypto ETF positions were worth approximately $6.98 million, with Bitcoin products accounting for the vast majority of that amount. Why the XRP ETF Holding MattersNational Bank of Canada’s XRP ETF holding comes as demand for XRP funds has recently slowed. SoSoValue data shows zero daily net inflows on August 7 and August 10, after XRP ETFs recorded around $3.45 million in net inflows on August 6.The slowdown is also visible in total ETF assets, which fell from about $993.38 million on August 5 to $950.05 million on August 10. However, cumulative net inflows remain strong at around $1.51 billion, showing that XRP ETFs have attracted significant money overall.Meanwhile, XRP is down around 2.4% at $1, while Bitcoin is also lower by about 1.1% near $64,287, showing that broader market weakness is adding to the pressure.
