Lummis Says Senator Hawley Is Resistant to the GENIUS and CLARITY Acts

Senator Cynthia Lummis said Senator Josh Hawley was “very resistant,” according to a Fox Business crypto reporter on X. Hawley did not vote for the GENIUS Act and is expected not to support the CLARITY Act, though discussions with his office are still ongoing.According to Odaily, other Republican resistance appears to stem from banking industry concerns over the bills’ stablecoin yield provisions. The Fox Business crypto reporter said an industry source noted yesterday that, because of banking lobbying pressure and some Republican concerns, the yield provisions are expected to be adjusted at least in part before the bill goes to a full Senate vote, but it is unclear whether the changes will satisfy the banking industry.
