G20 Statement Cites Digital Assets and Calls for Clearer Path for Responsible Innovation

Crypto reporter Eleanor Terrett said on X that the G20 chair statement released today by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent mentioned digital assets. According to Odaily, finance ministers and central bank governors from the world’s 20 largest economies said digital assets have the potential to support economic growth and pledged to create a clear path for responsible innovation.The statement also called for improvements to cross-border payments, including longer operating hours for bank and central bank systems used to process large or time-sensitive payments, broader adoption of ISO 20022, and simpler procedures for transferring financial services data across borders. G20 members are also waiting for the Financial Stability Board’s findings on the global cross-border impact of stablecoins.
