Ethereum Classic recently experienced a social engineering incident involving the Core-Geth client. According to Odaily, the unreviewed ethereumclassic/core-geth v1.13.0 was released on September 14 as a security update, and a small number of mining pool nodes briefly switched to it before returning to the long-maintained etclabscore/core-geth v1.12.23.The unreviewed version changed key logic related to chain selection and node discovery, creating a potential risk of network fragmentation. The incident did not cause block loss, chain reorganizations, fund losses, or service disruptions.
