COMP InfoCompound is a decentralized finance protocol focused on on-chain lending and borrowing. It allows users to supply crypto assets to earn interest or use supported assets as collateral to borrow from the protocol. The Compound Foundation supports the broader Compound ecosystem by helping coordinate protocol development, governance processes, partnerships, and long-term growth, while key protocol decisions remain subject to DAO governance.Compound’s current architecture is centered on Compound III, where each market is built around a single base asset that users can supply or borrow. Users with a positive base-asset balance earn interest, while borrowers pay interest according to utilization-based models set by governance. Collateral assets can be supplied to support borrowing, but they do not earn interest directly. Protocol parameters, supported assets, interest-rate models, risk settings, and upgrades can be changed through Compound governance.COMP is the governance token of the Compound protocol. It is an ERC-20 token with a fixed total supply of 10 million COMP and is used to delegate voting power, create proposals, vote on changes, and participate in protocol administration through governance contracts. COMP is not primarily designed as a payment token; its main role is to coordinate decentralized decision-making and give holders or their delegates influence over the future development and risk configuration of the Compound protocol.
