Block Joins x402 Foundation, Adds Bitcoin Lightning Network Support for AI Payments

Block has joined the x402 Foundation and will support the x402 open payment standard with Bitcoin Lightning Network integration for AI agents. According to ChainCatcher, x402 embeds payments directly into HTTP so AI agents can autonomously pay for goods, services, and other agent tools.Block said the Lightning Network is suited for the billions of instant, low-cost micropayments expected in the agent economy.
