Bitwise Survey Finds Large Institutions Kept Crypto Allocations During 50% Market Drop

Bitwise said interviews with 15 large institutions showed that respondents did not cut their crypto allocations during the roughly 50% market decline from October 2025 to April 2026, and some increased holdings. According to Odaily, some respondents that had not yet allocated to crypto have entered deep due diligence, while several sovereign wealth funds are evaluating large allocations. One sovereign investor said the legal and regulatory infrastructure needed to establish an allocation could take more than a year. The surveyed institutions’ crypto allocations ranged from 0.5% to 13% of investable assets, with most between 1% and 2%. All institutions with holdings owned Bitcoin, typically as their first, largest, and longest-held crypto position.
