BCBS Reports Shift in Bank Crypto Exposure as BTC Share Falls in the Americas

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision's latest second-half 2025 statistics show that banks' overall prudential crypto exposure was broadly unchanged, but the asset mix shifted significantly. According to ChainCatcher, BTC's share of bank crypto exposure in the Americas fell from 75.8% to 44.2%, while ETH rose to 38.5%, with SOL and XRP accounting for 7.8% and 5.6%, respectively.In other regions, banks moved more toward stablecoins. Customer-related activity also increased sharply, rising 93% in the Americas to 640 million euros, while Europe fell 25% to 190 million euros.
