Aave: Governance Proposal Introduces Custodied Collateral Lending on V4 - 15 Sep 2026

A formal Aave governance proposal introduces Custodied Collateral Lending on Aave V4, a structure that would let institutions borrow stablecoins against assets held in custody at Anchorage. Collateral state is synchronized onchain via Chainlink, and Anchorage would manage the collateral while executing liquidations as OTC sales rather than automated onchain sales. The proposal targets a borrower segment Aave does not currently reach directly: regulated institutions that require qualified custody and cannot accept public liquidation auctions. Routing liquidations through Anchorage as OTC sales addresses that constraint while keeping positions synchronized onchain through Chainlink. For AAVE holders, the relevance is the lending-revenue thesis, since institutional stablecoin borrowing would add a new source of protocol interest income if the design attracts sustained volume. The proposal remains subject to governance approval, so implementation depends on the outcome of the Aave vote.A new governance proposal introduces Custodied Collateral Lending, powered by Aave V4.It would allow institutions to borrow stablecoins on Aave against assets held in custody at , synchronized through infrastructure.
