a16z crypto said one of blockchain’s core values is creating new markets through permissionless issuance and global distribution, which it said helps overcome limits tied to listing committees, legal frameworks, and geographic fragmentation. According to Odaily, the firm said this mechanism has benefited representative crypto markets including perpetual contracts, spot DEXs, prediction markets, lending, meme coins, NFTs, and real-world asset tokenization.The firm said perpetual contracts are the clearest example of the trend, adding that on-chain RWA perpetual contract trading volume reached an annualized 1.4 trillion dollars in July and accounted for about half of Hyperliquid’s trading volume. It also said mechanisms such as HIP-3 and HIP-4 lower the barrier to market issuance, and it expects on-chain markets to expand further into commodities, foreign exchange, indexes, 24/7 stock exposure, CPI, computing power, music, social trends, and sports.
